Fire crews respond to engulfed vehicle near Oakland municipal building
OAKLAND TWP — Multiple fire crews responded to the Oakland Township municipal building on Chicora Road where a vehicle was totally engulfed in flames.
The driver of the vehicle was unhurt, but the vehicle itself — a tan-colored Audi sedan — was a total loss.
According to Aaron Wulff, assistant fire chief for the Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department, the driver of the vehicle realized there was something wrong with it when he noticed flames coming out of his back seat.
“There was a man traveling up 68 toward Butler and noticed that there were flames coming out of his back seat. That’s what he told me,” Wulff said. “He put it in the parking lot and that’s where the car died.”
Wulff says that no other vehicles were involved in the incident, and there were no other occupants in the vehicle when it caught fire.
In addition to Oneida Valley, the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department and East Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
