County officers not to blame for July 13
As I read the March 2 article on the county commissioners clash, I am concerned about the glaring omissions in the article.
First, Sheriff Mike Slupe had no responsibility for the incident on July 13, he and his people were working under the U.S. Secret Service administrator and the lead agent on site. They did as they were instructed with honor and pride.
Police departments that were there on mutual aid offered walkie talkies so that everyone was in communication and were turned down by those responsible for the safety of a presidential candidate and the citizens of the USA. The lives lost and injuries that occurred are solely their responsibility.
