Nearly 50 pieces of artwork created by Slippery Rock University students are on display at the University’s Martha Gault Art Gallery as part of its 2025 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. The exhibition is open to the public through April 7 at the gallery, located on the first floor of the Maltby Center, 108 Maltby Ave., which is open Mondays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Alyssa Velazquez, an assistant curator at the Carnegie Museum of Art, juried the artwork, which included an event-record 149 submissions, one-third of which were selected for the exhibition. Valazquez selected winners that included first, second and third place, as well as three honorable mentions. SRU hosted an awards reception March 3.

First prize went to Vanessa Champion, a senior art major from Pittsburgh, for “Portion Control,” a mixed media submission. Taylor Godleski, a senior art major from Cranberry Township, won second prize for “Burning Desire,” an acrylic and lipstick submission. Sarah Preston, a senior art major from Butler, won third prize for “Claire,” an intaglio and gold leaf submission.

Honorable mention awards went to Veronica Yeschke, a senior art major from West View, for “Ferocity,” an acrylic submission; Link Berger, a senior art major from Oakmont, for “Brothers,” a metal submission; and Bailey Lundmark, a junior art major from Russell, for “Ouch!,” a ceramic submission.
