Boy, 2, who died in Clearfield Township fire remembered as kind, loving
The toddler who died last week in a Clearfield Township fire is being remembered by his family as happy and loving with a special fondness for animals.
The obituary for Jesse Umbaugh, published online and in the Sunday edition of the Butler Eagle, indicates the 2-year-old boy was a “bright and joyful spirit who brought love and laughter to everyone around him.”
He died in a mobile home fire at 2608 E. Old Route 422 on Saturday morning, March 8, that sent his mother Melina Bryner to UPMC Mercy Hospital’s burn unit and his father Alex Umbaugh to Allegheny Health Network’s West Penn Hospital.
Daniel Weidenhof of Fireproof — East Brady, who has been raising funds for the family in the aftermath of the fire, said Thursday they have since been released.
Weidenhof is hosting a GoFundMe for the family, “Comfort Melina and Alex in Their Darkest Hour.” It has raised over $22,000 as of Friday.
State police on Thursday said the fire marshal is still investigating to determine the cause.
Arrangements for Jesse are being handled released by Spencer D. Geibel Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Butler Township.
The funeral home will be hosting a memorial service from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 21, and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m. at New Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.
“Jesse’s time on this earth was brief, but the love he gave and received was immeasurable,” his obituary said. “He will always be our sweet little boy, forever loved and never forgotten.”
