Firefighters were able to limit the damage to a Lancaster Township home with their hasty response to a Tuesday morning, March 18, fire.

According to the Doug Pickett, chief of Harmony Fire District, the fire at 370 Perry Highway was out in about 30 minutes. It was reported around 9:20 a.m.

While the structure was saved, the homeowners will need to address water damage, he said.

“We did have smoke coming out of the roof at arrival,” Pickett said. “Initial crews got to the second floor. That’s where the fire was. There is a lot of debris up there.”

Pickett said no one was injured and the source of the fire has not been determined at this time. The home is not considered a total loss, he said.

“(The house) is definitely going to need some extensive work done to it because of the water damage,” Pickett said.

But he said the damage was limited because of the first responders’ efforts.

“This was our bread and butter. It went well,” he said.

Crews that assisted Harmony Fire District on the call were Harmony EMS, Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, Evans City Area Volunteer Fire Department, Callery Volunteer Fire Company, Adams Area Fire District, Portersville-Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department from Beaver County.

The homeowner was home at the time of the fire and declined to comment.
