Middlesex Twp.parade returns, alters route
Middlesex Township first responders will hold a Christmas parade on Saturday at noon.
The parade will begin at the Holy Sepulcher Church lot and end at the Middlesex Township municipal building, stopping at a number of local township roads along the way.
“We do have some people throwing candy, and there will be at minimum three floats, plus the fire engines, police cars and Santa on a surprise float,” Denis Bishop of the Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Department said.
The Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Department will post a “Santa Tracker” on its Facebook page for residents to see in real time where the parade is headed. The route has changed somewhat this year to accommodate a larger parade.
“We had multiple local businesses donate and want to put floats in the parade,” Bishop said. “Unfortunately, the floats can't hold up on the roads as well as just a firetruck, so we had to shorten our route, and we arranged it so we weren't on state roads, any roads that had high rates of speed. We tried to minimize how many times we had to cross those roads as well.”
The parade will also stop in the Holy Sepulcher Church and Middlesex Crossing parking lots for those who may not encounter it in their neighborhoods.
