Fine Arts & Beyond Showcase will return April 5 to Butler Intermediate High School to what organizers expect to be a crowd of more than 2,000 people.

John Reddick, a member of the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation’s board of directors, said that while COVID put a damper on the event, the showcase seems to have rebounded to prepandemic crowds. Reddick said last year’s showcase had a particularly solid crowd.

“From my perspective, this fundraiser is great for the foundation. We focus on scholarships and creative teacher grants, we’re working with the weekend backpack program that provides food for families that are struggling,” Reddick said. “It is a community event, it brings a lot of people together, and we don’t want to lose sight of that. The leaders of the foundation have always advocated for that.”

This will be the 22nd annual FAB event, which was created to showcase the artistic work and musical talent of Butler Area School District students as well as professional community artists.

The event started out primarily as an art show for the classes at the high school. It has grown to include musical performances, and also serves as the main yearly fundraiser for the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation.

The event will feature artwork, jazz and instrumental performances, and a 50/50 raffle.

According to the foundation’s website, proceeds will help provide funding for a number of programs, including creative teaching grants, the Kids’ Weekend Backpack Program, needed technology for the district and scholarships for graduating seniors with financial needs.

In the past, the FAB Showcase has displayed more than 450 individual art pieces, all available for viewing the night of the event.

The showcase will take place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Butler Intermediate High School, 551 Fairground Hill Road in Butler Township.
