Former Venango Trails Golf Course to become upscale neighborhood
MARSHALL TWP, Allegheny County — The former Venango Trails Golf Course just south of Cranberry Township will become an upscale neighborhood.
VT Partners recently announced that construction has begun on Venango Trails, a 325-acre residential development off Freeport Road that will include multifamily and single-family housing.
Land development on the $100 million project will continue this fall and winter, and home construction is slated for spring.
When completed, Venango Trails will contain 473 homes, a lake and pond, scenic trails, tree-lined streets with sidewalks, street lights and walking trails through an 80-acre preserve.
Marshall Township Manager Neil McFadden said the development will consist of four phases, the first of which will consist of 103 units and could break ground as soon as next week.
The second phase, McFadden said, will also consist of 103 units, while the third will be 139 units and the fourth and final phase will include 128 units.
“Venango Trails intends to be a first-class new neighborhood in the North Hills,” said Robin Randall of VT Partners in a news release.
A minimum disturbance to the existing landscape and the use of superior construction materials are two key points in developing Venango Trails, Randall said.
House prices will range from about $280,000 to $2 million for multifamily townhouses to single-family estate homes on large lots.
