One hospitalized in rear-end crash in Clay Township
One motorist was transported to a Pittsburgh-area hospital after a two-car crash at the intersection of William Flynn Highway and Euclid Road in Clay Township.
The crash was first reported around 4 p.m., and was described as a “rear-ender” by Curt Mershimer, chief of the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department.
“It was a rear-end accident,” Mershimer said. “One car rear-ended the other car.”
A medical helicopter was initially dispatched to the scene before being called back.
“A helicopter was placed on standby,” Mershimer said. “Upon arrival, it was determined there was no need for a helicopter, so it was canceled.”
Aside from the one injury, the number of total occupants between the two vehicles is unknown. Traffic was reduced to one lane on William Flynn Highway for a short time while emergency crews were present.
In addition to the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department, the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department, Butler Ambulance Service and state police responded.
