Butler woman charged with drug trafficking in 2023 incident

A Butler woman has been charged with drug trafficking and corruption of minors, among other offenses, in connection with a November 2023 incident.

Marki M. Seezox, 35, has been charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture; corruption of minors, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving under the influence, intentional possession of a controlled substance and driving without registration.

The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2023 when a state trooper caught up to a vehicle that was found to have an expired registration out of Philadelphia. According to the police affidavit, the vehicle, which was driven by Seezox, was eventually stopped at the parking lot of the Monroe Hotel. A 17-year-old was in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

The affidavit states that Seezox was found to have red eyes and the smell of burnt marijuana around her, along with other suspicious signs. Police eventually found a box of cigarettes in the young passenger’s coat pocket, and Seezox told police she had given the passenger the cigarettes to hold for her, which the passenger corroborated.

Seezox was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, and according to the police affidavit, field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired. Police searches revealed more narcotics in the vehicle and in her clothing, and a blood test revealed the presence of marijuana and gabapentin — the latter of which was not prescribed to her.

A preliminary hearing for Seezox has been set for May 5 at 2:15 p.m. in front of judge William T. Fullerton.
