John J. Gyger
John J. Gyger, 83, of Saxonburg, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, while under the care of Concordia at Cabot.
Born Aug. 26, 1941, in Butler, he was the son of the late Paul C. Gyger Sr. and the late Elizabeth (Burford) Gyger.
John was a graduate of Mars High School and went on to attend Penn State University, where he earned his degree in engineering. He worked as an engineer for Butler Fabricating until his retirement. John enjoyed model railroading and going antiquing with his late wife, Carol. More than anything, John loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time at camp in Marionville and also boating at his camp along the river in East Brady.
John is survived by his son, Jay J. Gyger, of Saxonburg; his brother-in-law, William (Linda) Andrews; his sisters-in-law, Donna (Thomas) Roxbury and Tracy Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Gyger, whom he married June 14, 1963, and who passed away Sept. 22, 2007; and his brother, Paul C. Gyger Jr.
GYGER — Family and friends of John J. Gyger, who died Saturday, April 26, 2025, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Edmundson officiating.
He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Clinton U.P. Church Cemetery in Saxonburg.
