Raiders cruise past Golden Tornado

Seneca Valley's offense simply took what Butler gave it.

The Raiders and Golden Tornado were in a scoreless tie Thursday when Seneca's Adam Ranalli stepped to the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Butler's Shane Seybert hit Ranalli with a pitch. It was the start of a nine-run inning, as Seneca cruised to a 10-0 baseball win in five frames.

"They hit our leadoff guy and then we finally got things going with our bats," said Seneca coach Eric Semega.

The Raiders tallied as many hits (six) as the number of walks they received from Seybert, who shouldered the loss after pitching 3

innings.

On the other side, the Raiders had their ace on the mound in Ryan Page.

The senior southpaw surrendered just two hits and one walk while striking out seven in five innings.

"He was on again today," Semega said. "He's been throwing very well for us lately."

Seneca's win sets the stage for its home game today with North Allegheny. The Tigers trail the Raiders by

two

games in the Section 5-AAA standings. New Castle is also

two

games back.

"We have four section games left," said Semega. "We still need a few wins to wrap it up."

The Raiders (12-2, 7-1) will start senior Scott Carney on the mound this afternoon.

In other action:

Joe Ennis scored three runs and drove in three, and Jesse Alfreno struck out 12 as Grove City cruised past Wilmington, 11-1, in six innings.

Garth Kohlmeyer scored the winning run in the first game of a doubleheader, then drove in the deciding run in the second contest as Moniteau took two from North Clarion by scores of 7-6 and 4-3.
