Conrad A. Ostertag

Conrad A. Ostertag, 77, of Middlesex Township, Valencia, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 2020, at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born Jan. 21, 1943, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Conrad and Emilie Marti Ostertag.

Conrad was a production scheduler for Shenango, Inc. on Neville Island.

A lifelong singer, yodeler and accordion player, Conrad performed with “The Pittsburgh Swiss Yodelers” and in “Coni's Little German Band,” with his father for many years. He had been a member and yodeler with the “Pittsburgh Swiss Singers” for over 50 years. He was a member of the Swiss American Society in Pittsburgh, the German American Alliance and Teutonia Mannerchor. He was due to receive his 60-year pin from the North American Swiss Singing Association (NASSA).

A Vietnam veteran, he was a member of the Shaler VFW, and the Baden American Legion.He was a member of Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church and Corinthian Lodge F&AM.Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Patricia Gressler Ostertag; a son, Conrad Ostertag (Carey) of Butler, and children, Conrad and Colin; a daughter, Lora Speeney (Ken) of Dunbar, Pa., and children, Corey, Anthony, Felicity and Noelle; a daughter, Atalie Cameron (Sam) of Rincon, Ga., and children, William and Amelia; and a brother, Paul F. Ostertag of Gibsonia.OSTERTAG — Arrangements for Conrad A. Ostertag, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, are private and under the direction of McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park, Cranberry Township.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Pittsburgh Swiss Scholarship Fund, with checks made payable to the University of Pittsburgh.
