CASPER, Wyo. — Freeport graduate and Sarver resident Jacob Rassau, a freshman at Ranger College in Texas, has qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Rassau qualified in bull riding. The CNFR takes place all of next week in Casper, Wyo.

St. Barnabas sets golf outing recordGIBSONIA — A record-setting $115,829 was raised at the 24th annual St. Barnabas Charitable Golf Open this past Monday at the Butler Country Club.The event benefited the St. Barnabas Free care Fund.Bob Crnjarich, Rich Crnjarich, Harry Klucher and David Jarrett were presented the Bell Trophy for winning the tournament.

Warning receives PSAC honorLOCK HAVEN — Slippery Rock University track and field standout Chris Warning was named the PSAC Male Athlete of the Year Thursday.Warning, who won the same honor for the indoor track and field season, set school records in the hammer throw (59.87 meters). He went on to place 11th at the national championships.

Hartman, Slepski earn scholarshipsBUTLER TWP — Butler High baseball players Mike Hartman and Tyler Slepski are recipients of the BTBB Athletic/Academic Scholarship for the 2011 season.Hartman received a $300 scholarship and will be attending Mercyhurst College while Slepski received $200 and will be heading to Seton Hill University.
