Louella Mae Barger Flanigan

Louella Mae Barger Flanigan, 93, of the Butler Arbor Apartments, Butler, passed away Jan. 30 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Cabot.

She was born on July 18, 1921, in Petrolia to the late Arthur and Beulah Barger.

Louella was a longtime member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and belonged to the Third-Order Franciscans in Herman.

She worked at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until her retirement as a physical therapy aide.

Louella volunteered for hospice, VA Butler Healthcare and St. Vincent DePaul for many years. Over the years, she assisted many neighbors at the Butler Arbors and always tried to help others who were less fortunate than herself.

Louella is survived by her six children, Kathleen Krainbucher (David) of Butler, Patrick Flanigan (Patricia) of Butler, Mary Ann Nicholls (David) of DuBois, Timothy Flanigan of Butler, Vickie Rackham (Gary) of Butler and Kirstie McGouldrick (William) of Cabot; her 17 grandchildren, including Shawn Flanigan, who preceded his grandmother in death on March 2, 1972; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Kenneth Barger (Jane) of Cabot.

Louella was married to Donald A. Flanigan until his death in 1976.

The family is grateful to Louella's aide, Brenda; to Kathy and Kristie at the Butler Arbors; to her kind neighbors who were so attentive to her needs; and to the compassion and excellent care she received at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Flanigan — At Louella's request, there will be no viewing for Louella Mae Barger Flanigan, who passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2015.The St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:35 a.m. Feb. 14 at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, to recite the rosary.A Mass of Christian burial and committal service will follow at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at the church with the Father Anthony Grossi, O.S.B., as the principal celebrant. Interment will take place in the Petrolia Bear Creek Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Louella's name to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3400 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
