[naviga:h3]MIU IV director gets President’s Award[/naviga:h3]

GROVE CITY — Cathleen Cubelic, Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV’s director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, was recently honored by the Pennsylvania Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development with the 2015 President’s Award.

The award recognizes a leader in the field for contributions to the organization and to public education.

Cubelic has led MIU IV’s curriculum department since 2010. In this role, she supports school districts across Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer counties in the implementation of state initiatives to improve student achievement.

MIU IV is headquartered in Grove City.

[naviga:h3]New Year’s Eve party set at parish center[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock Development will host its second annual Community New Year’s Eve Party from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Dec. 31 at the Rock Catholic Parish Center, 342 Normal Ave., Slippery Rock.

There will be live music by Harmony Road.

The event is for ages 21 and older only.

[naviga:h3]School board elects new president[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — The Slippery Rock School Board elected a new president at its reorganization meeting Monday.

Approved in a unanimous vote, Mark Taylor will be the new president, business manager Paul Cessar said.

Diana Wolak was chosen as the board’s vice president.

Previous president Polly Shaw remains on the board.

Also Monday, new board member Theresa Pearce took her seat on the board.
