BUTLER TWP — Jordan Luntz was named Butler County's 2016 Distinguished Young Woman Saturday at Butler County Community College's Succop Theater.

Saturday's event featured nine contestants including Jensen Wehrli, first runner-up; AnnMarie Lowerre, second runner-up; and Rebekah Fryman, third runner-up.

All contestants were judged on personal interviews, scholastics, talent, fitness and self-expression. The contestants who scored highest won scholarships. They have all just finished their junior years in high school.

Jordan will go on to compete in the state event in July in Johnstown. The state winner will go to the national program in Mobile, Ala., following her high school graduation in June 2016.

Jordan is the daughter of Rose Luntz of Saxonburg and the late Joseph Luntz. She attends Knoch High School in Saxonburg where she is a member of the National Honor Society, a two-time national champion with the Future Business Leaders of America and a Henry Mancini Musical Theater Award Nominee for Best Actress.

Jensen is the daughter of Michael Wehrli and Kayce Optiz of Butler. She attends Butler High School where she is homecoming princess, a varsity cheerleader and a member of the National Junior Honor Society.

AnnMarie Lowerre is the daughter of Eva and Kevin Lowerre. She attends Butler High School where she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Sequinettes Dance Team, as well as being senior class secretary.

Rebekah is the daughter of Mary and Robert Fryman of Butler. She attends Butler High School where she is in honors classes, College Within the Classroom and is a competitive horseback rider.The five program judges were Amy Amendola, Courtney Eiler, Erin Mankevich, Marianne Cornetti and Mia Tapper.The scholastic judges were Mary Ann McCandless, Sarah Gibbs and Julianne Louttit.The event's director was Mary Jo Grinder. The choreographers were Sarah Molczan, Jenna Molczan and Claire Georgiadis.Marking its 54th year, the Distinguished Young Woman scholarship program was formerly called Junior Miss.

Jordan Luntz, the daughter of Rose Luntz and the late Joseph Luntz of Saxonburg, was named Distinguished Young Woman of Butler County Saturday night.
