Pa. House cancels plan to vote amid stalemate
HARRISBURG — The state House of Representatives has no more plans to take any votes before the Nov. 2 election after it put off a scheduled voting session.
The House canceled its plans to convene today amid a stalemate with the Senate.
A spokesman for House Majority Leader Todd Eachus says the Democratic caucus is still trying to decide what to do about a Senate bill that packages pension reforms with the creation of an independent fiscal office.
Democrats question whether the bill violates the constitution's single-subject provision, and some House lawmakers don't like the idea of the fiscal office.
The Senate has no plans to take any more votes this year, and closed-door talks have yielded no agreement on a bill to tax Pennsylvania's booming natural gas industry.
