Man drowns in golf course pond
ADAMS TWP — A man who was pulled from a pond on the Treesdale Golf Course Friday afternoon died.
Paul Dunn, 42, of Cannonsburg, who operated a "geese police" business, was on the golf course to remove the birds from the property, according to township police Chief Bill Westerman.
Dunn was pulled from the water just after noon and taken to UPMC Passavant in McCandless.
Emergency responders tried to resuscitate the man, who had been in the water for more than an hour.
The water was "cold enough that the medical people thought he had a chance," Westerman said.
Police got a call at 10:40 a.m. that a man who was kayaking in the pond had gone into the water. He was alone in the kayak, and he was not wearing a life jacket.
Two men employed by Swarts Environmental Design company were working in the area when they heard the man screaming for help. They lost sight of him before the pair jumped in the pond to attempt a rescue.
The men, who were working on the Lakeview Court housing development, were in the water for 10 to 15 minutes, according to one of the men who declined to be identified.
Officials from Wexford, Unionville, Butler County fire police, Adams Area fire police, and Peebles Volunteer fire company and Pine Township, both in Allegheny County, responded to the scene.
