Freeport High School goes remote for rest of week

The Freeport Senior High School will switch to remote learning for the rest of the week due to an increase in COVID-19 cases at the school, a statement on the school's Twitter feed said Tuesday.

Due to elevated case counts and evidence of in-school transmission, the school said it would go remote for Wednesday through Friday, and that in-person learning would resume on Tuesday.

All other buildings in the Freeport Area School District will continue to operate in-person, the statement said.

According to the school district's COVID-19 dashboard, there are 35 active student cases and two active staff cases. There are 345 students and two staff members who are in or being recommended for quarantine.

District-wide, there are 69 active student cases and 13 active staff cases, according to the dashboard.

High school families in need of meals should submit a request form by 8 a.m. Wednesday morning. Pick-up will take place Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the high school's door 12 by the cafeteria loading dock.
