Sprankle's to open in Saxonburg tomorrow
SAXONBURG — Those attending the opening day of the new Sprankle's Neighborhood Market tomorrow will understand what Doug Sprankle means when he says he is community oriented.
Roebling Bakery, Cabot Smoked Meats, Saxonburg Butcher Shop and Sarver Frozen Foods are among the signs denoting the various departments in the remodeled supermarket.
Doug Sprankle toiled with a legion of workers over the last few days to open on Independence Day as planned.
He said a half dozen high-end giveaways, a D.J., samples of various foods and products, fresh sushi and Conny Creek Brewing serving beer and cider will be available to customers who come in to experience the new store.
“It's going to be a full shopping experience,” he said.
The only features of the store that will not be up and running at 9 a.m. Saturday are the WIC system and Conny Creek Brewing's pub inside the store, which Sprankle said should open near the first week of August.
“The hometown shopping experience hasn't been good for Saxonburg and we hope that with the relaunch, we can not only make customers proud of the store, but make them choose local when shopping,” Sprankle said.
