Howard Paul Giesey
Howard Paul Giesey, 58, of Cabot died Monday at West Penn Hospital.
Born Nov. 6, 1950, in Latrobe, he was the son of Howard L. Giesey and Hazel Halferty Giesey.
He was a middle school teacher at Knoch, retiring in 2007. He currently was the wide receiver coach at Slippery Rock University.
Mr. Giesey previously was the head coach at Knoch High School for nine seasons and served eight seasons as head coach at Montana Technical University. He also coached his sons for three years at Ligonier Valley High School.
His 1983 Montana Technical team was ranked seventh in the NAIA national poll. He earned NAIA District 12 Coach of the Year honors in 1983 and was the Frontier Conference Coach of the Year in 1982 and 1983.
As an athlete, Mr. Giesey earned all-conference honors as quarterback at Dakota Wesleyan College, where he earned a bachelor's degree with a double major in biology and physical education. He received a master's degree in physical education from Illinois State.
He was a member of A.F.C.A.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon (Gray) Giesey, who he married Dec. 26, 1991; his mother, Hazel Giesey of Ligonier; his sons, Mitchell P. Giesey and Christopher M. Giesey, both of Robinson Township; his stepchildren, Jon (Staci) Dylewski of Franklin Park, Maggie Dylewski of Boston, and Sarah (Pat) Powers of Charlotte, N.C.; his grandson, Joseph Dylewski; his brother, Robert (Paula) Giesey of Dallas; his sister, Maryanne (Buzz) Shoemaker of Latrobe; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father.
<B>GIESEY </B> Friends of Howard Paul Giesey, who died Monday, April 13, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 410 W.
