Man accused of raping girl

Anthony Biondo
He also faces other charges

EVANS CITY — State police on Monday arrested an Allegheny County man on charges that he raped a girl and molested another girl over the weekend at a home in the borough.

Anthony T. Biondo, 37, of Penn Hills is in the Butler County Prison on $150,000 bail.

A 14-year-old told police that she was sleeping on a couch early Sunday morning when Biondo groped her and kissed her, according to court documents.

The teen recounted that she was startled and moved away from the defendant, who walked back to a love seat in the same living room.

Later, Biondo returned to the couch and again fondled the girl and then raped her. She recounted being “too scared to say anything” and pretended to be asleep, police said.

A 13-year-old girl who was nearby witnessed the alleged sexual assault, documents said. Police allege that Biondo that same early morning fondled the 13-year-old as the two were seated on the living room love seat.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Biondo on felony charges of rape, statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and indecent assault in the alleged crime involving the older girl.

Haggerty also arraigned Biondo on misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and indecent assault in the suspected assault of the younger girl.

At his arraignment, Biondo, who is single and unemployed, told Haggerty that he is the father of two children, ages 8 and 12.

Preliminary hearings for both cases are tentatively set for 11 a.m. Dec. 9 at the office of District Judge Wayne Seibel in Evans City.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Biondo has an attorney but he indicated to Haggerty that he plans to ask for a public defender.

On Sunday afternoon Penn Hills police arrested Biondo outside his home where he was found allegedly intoxicated. Police said he briefly struggled with an officer during the incident.

He was charged with resisting arrest and public drunkenness, and later released.
