Fun at the Beach

It was summertime and the living was easy in Butler County in late June of 1971. Large crowds visited Moraine State Park that weekend. That Sunday’s total number of visitors at Lake Arthur was 40,972, with 17,766 enjoying the swimming facilities. There were 12,676 persons at the lake on Saturday, with 3,000 swimming. Two scuba divers were also recorded at the park. They had received authorization to dive for lost articles in the swimming area. Alameda Park Pool that year also reported its largest crowd of the season to that point with 1,265 swimmers.
