New Cranberry Twp. police officer sworn in
CRANBERRY TWP — A new police officer was sworn in Tuesday at the board of supervisors' reorganization meeting.
Eric Meyers was hired as a patrolman for the Cranberry Township Police Department and sworn in by Dick Hadley, supervisor chairman, in council chambers.
“It's obvious Eric has been influenced by a strong family,” Hadley said. “This is a proud day for us, Eric, as I'm sure it is for you.”
Meyers is coming to Cranberry Township from Herndon, Va., where he was a police officer for three years. His wife, Amanda, who is originally from Mars, pinned his new badge on after he took his oath.
“I'm excited,” he said. “I'm ready to start a new chapter in life.”
Meyers has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Southeastern University of Florida. He and his wife have also participated in numerous mission trips, including El Salvador, Cambodia and India, Hadley said. He is also a CrossFit coach.
Also at Tuesday's meeting, supervisors granted full-time employee status to police officers Robin Winters and Tiffani Shaffer following the completion of their one-year probationary period Jan. 9.
