Areas of Butler hit with flash flooding Wednesday

Becky Petsinger has lived on East Brady Street for her entire life, which has come with the routine hazard of cleaning up mud and debris from the road almost every time it rains.

On Wednesday afternoon, residents of the neighborhood grabbed rakes and shovels as buckets of water dumped from the sky into the Sullivan Run waterway that runs under the block. It quickly filled up and dumped mud and debris onto the street.

“You wouldn't believe the hardships on this block,” Petsinger said. “They literally have to go out there and pull the branches and debris from the street. A few years ago we lost everything in our basement.”
