Butler woman jailed after alleged attack

Police: woman robbed, assaulted another woman

Rage over missing money apparently led one woman to attack and strangle another one, Butler police said.

The suspect, Tiffany Ann Crawford, 31, of Butler even made the alleged victim partially disrobe, believing the other woman had hidden the money, according to court documents.

Crawford is accused of taking $10 from Danielle Rearick's purse before the two women ended Sunday night fighting in the middle of Second Avenue.

Police later arrested Crawford on charges of robbery, simple assault and disorderly conduct. She is the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.

A call about 9 p.m. for a reported fight led officers to a home on Second Avenue where they found the defendant and victim, both who appeared “out of breath,” documents said.

Rearick, 34, of Butler told police that while she had been at Crawford's apartment on Pillow Street, the suspect had accused her of taking money.

She said Crawford grabbed her purse and rifled through it, taking $10.

The victim recounted that the defendant hit her, held her down on the bed and strangled her.

She eventually managed to run out of the apartment, down the street and into a nearby pizza shop to get help.

But Crawford followed Rearick there and “began to drag her outside,” documents said.

Crawford's preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
