Saxonburg man dies in motorcycle crash in Maine
PORTLAND, Maine — A longtime Butler County resident died Saturday after he was injured in a motorcycle accident.
Leonard “Buck” A. Huff, Jr., 72, of Saxonburg passed away at the Maine Medical Center after being involved in a crash with an SUV Friday morning.
The accident happened on Route 3 near China, Maine, said Stephen McCausland, public information officer with the Maine State Police.
Huff was struck by an SUV after pulling out of the parking lot of a diner in his 2008 Honda motorcycle. The driver of the SUV was not hurt.
First responders found him lying in the road with a head injury and he was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
He was later flown by helicopter to the hospital in Portland, where he died of his injuries.
Huff was wearing a helmet, but the chin strap was not tight enough to keep it on his head when struck, McCausland said.
Maine State Police are investigating the incident.
Huff was a former resident of Prospect and was a Franklin Township supervisors for 12 years.
