One child killed, two injured in Monday accident

SUMMIT TWP — An 11-year-old boy was killed and his two siblings were injured Monday morning when a vehicle struck them at the bus stop in front of their home on Geibel Road, authorities said.

The children were waiting for the bus to take them to Summit Elementary School at about 8:50 a.m. when they were hit.

Authorities said the boy was pronounced dead at Butler Memorial Hospital. An autopsy was expected to be performed later Monday.

His 6-year-old brother, police said, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Hospital of Pittsburgh with unknown injuries. Their 9-year-old sister was taken to BMH with an apparent minor ankle injury.

An accident reconstruction team was still at the scene after noon, said police Cpl. Greg Bogan.

Police did not release the names of the children.

Police identified the driver as Gina Kibbie, 38, of Butler in a news release Monday evening. Both Kibbie and a 7-year-old boy in her car were uninjured.

Kibbe stopped after the accident, Bogan said.

Police said Kibbe told them she did not see the children.
