The Butler County Democratic Committee will have a candidates' rally from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at Diamond Park in Butler.
Scheduled to speak at the rally are Democratic candidates
Steven Porter, running for the U.S. House of Representatives' 3rd District; Kevan Yenerall, running for the state Senate's 21st District; and Fred Vero, running for the state House of Representatives' 11th District Statewide Democratic candidates invited to attend are
Joe Hoeffel, running for the U.S. Senate; Jack Wagner, running for auditor general; and Bob Casey Jr., running for treasurer.
Organizers at the rally will also assist residents to register to vote in the Nov. 2 election. The deadline to register is Oct. 4.
ChamberPAC, the political action committee of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, has endorsed state Rep.
Daryl Metcalfe, R-12th, and Brian Ellis, Republican candidate for the state House of Representatives' 11th District in the Nov. 2 election.
ChamberPAC supports incumbent state legislators and other candidates who it says support pro-economic growth, pro-jobs legislation and give Pennsylvania "a better chance in the ongoing competition for jobs and job opportunities with surrounding states."
BIKEPACE, the political action committee representing motorcyclists' rights, has announced support for Fred Vero, Democratic candidate for the state House of Representatives' 11th District in the Nov. 2 election.
The group, in announcing its endorsement, noted Vero has pledged his support to uphold the law enacted last year that repealed the state's mandatory helmet law.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee has endorsed U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., and U.S. Rep. Phil English, R-3rd, for re-election.
The group, in announcing its endorsement, cited English's record in fighting "for the issues critical to our veterans."
Specter, chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, was praised for his "long record of support for veterans and their families nationwide and here in Pennsylvania."
State Sen. Bob Robbins, R-50th, next month will sponsor a seminar that will offer youths a look at how state government is designed to work.
The free seminar, "State Government: A Closer Look" will be Oct. 22 at Thiel College in Greenville, Mercer County, for high school students in Robbins' district, which includes parts of Butler and Lawrence counties and all of Crawford and Mercer counties.
"By providing the opportunity for interaction between high school students, state legislators, Senate staff and lobbyists, students will be exposed to various aspects of state government," he said.
