College ballplayers hit field at Pullman
Pullman Park will host a Tri-State Summer Collegiate League baseball game at 6:30 p.m. today.
The BlueSox, based in Washington, Pa., will face the Youngstown (Ohio) Metros. Young fans will be invited on to the field to play catch with BlueSox players at 5 p.m.
There are 18 teams in two divisions of the league and the BlueSox lead their division with a 9-3 record. The league is comprised of college players and nearly 20 different schools are represented on the BlueSox squad.
The BlueSox wear a similar style uniform, complete with pinstripes, to that worn by the Butler Yankees, who played at Pullman Park during the 1930s.
The BlueSox will return to Pullman Park for a twinight doubleheader July 20 against an opponent from Cleveland.
