Responders extinguish fire at Winfield Twp. garage
Crews are mopping up a fire at a brick garage under demolition on Bicker Road in Winfield Township. The cause is unknown, said Kip Johnston, captain of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department.
The call came in just before 9 a.m. Thursday.
Firefighters found the fire coming from inside the garage. The fire spread to a nearby dumpster.
The homeowner was home, but he did not know how the fire started. A contractor hired to tear down the garage also did not know what happened, Johnston said.Officials said there was no electricity connected to the garage.Crews were still waiting to get inside to inspect the garage just before 10 a.m.Johnston did not believe there was anything valuable inside.Herman and South Buffalo Township firefighters assisted at the scene.
