Herman A. Neff

Herman A. Neff, 84, of Oakland Township, Chicora, passed away peacefully surrounded by all of the people he cherished the most on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in the comfort of his home.

He was born Monday, July 27, 1936, in Oakland Township, and was the son of the late Herman W. Neff and the late Mary Agnes Angert Neff.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country from April 6, 1956, to March 17, 1958.He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in North Oakland, Chicora.He was a member of the Chicora American Legion.His hobbies included classic cars and steam engines, but most of all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family.He worked for Pullman Standard until the plant closed. He owned Neff Brothers Water Well Drilling, and oil and gas wells.He is survived by his wife, Bridget A. Elwinger Neff, whom he married Sept. 9, 1967.He is also survived by three daughters, Deborah Neff, Lucille M. Neff and Veronica M. Neff; two sons, Matthew C. and Traci Neff, and Arthur W. and Coleen Neff; his grandchildren, Dustin Rodgers, Emilie Neff, Zachary Neff, Kelsey Neff and Alexis Neff; two brothers, Ben Neff, Patrick and Jean Neff; and his sister, Catherine “Kate” and Phil Graham.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Joe, Wendell, Andy, Tom, Jerry and Raymond Neff.NEFF — Friends of Herman A. Neff, who died Wednesday, April 28, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2021, at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, North Oakland, Chicora, and will be officiated by the Rev. Matt McClain.Private burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, North Oakland, Chicora.Full military honors will be conducted by the Chicora and Bradys Bend American Legion.COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, and anyone attending must provide and wear a mask and practice social distancing.To share memories, get directions, and for more information, please visit www.steighnerfuneralhome.com.
