12:36 a.m. Wednesday — Jason Gillespie, 34, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence at Pillow and Cunningham streets. He also was cited for careless driving.Apolice report said Gillespie's blood-alcohol level was 0.263 percent — more than three times the limit of 0.08 percent considered intoxicated under state law.1:04 a.m. Tuesday — Four Allegheny County men were arrested after a passing motorist reported suspicious activity in front of National City Bank on Center Avenue.Police questioned the suspects who claimed to be part of a cleaning crew. Apolice report claimed the men gave phony names to officers. Two others, the report said, were searched and found with suspected drugs.Charged with giving false identification to law enforcement authorities were Donald Gent II, 27, of Oakmont; Donald Pollard, 31, of Verona; Roeman Howard, 32, of Pittsburgh; and Terrence Vaughn Stevenson, 28, of McKeesport.Additionally, Gent is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia; Howard is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.All four suspects were arraigned and placed in Butler County Prison. Gent and Stevenson are being held on $10,000 bond each, and Pollard and Howard are being held on $3,000 bond each.Tuesday — Police filed charges against two city residents accused of trying to pass two phony prescriptions for OxyContin at a pair of local pharmacies June 12.Charged with conspiracy and attempted acquisition of a controlled substance are Peter Vincent Spadola, 51, and Nicole Lynn Spadola, 37.Tuesday — Karen Parker reported that four elf lawn ornaments were stolen overnight from the back yard of her East Brady Street home. The 12-inch ornaments are valued at $10 each.
Wednesday — Police filed citation Number 36 against a Freeport man accused of failing to clean up a burned and dilapidated trailer home he owns on Howes Run Road.Apreliminary hearing for Jeffrey Snyder Sr., 46, is set for Tuesday in connection with 35 of the citations for violating the township's nuisance ordinance.Police on March 21 began citing Snyder, whose trailer was badly damaged in a fire in February 2007. Authorities said despite attempts to get Snyder to take care of the property, it remains an eyesore and danger to the community.Snyder pleaded guilty to the nuisance charge when he was first cited, and paid $293 in fines and court costs. But police in June started issuing daily citations to Snyder because of his property's condition.July 1 — Police filed felony retail theft and other charges against Nicholas Parison Jr., 39, of Templeton, Armstrong County, stemming from a June 29 drive-off at the Sheetz store on Route 356.Police said Parison pumped $62 of gasoline into his vehicle and drove away without paying for the fuel. Investigators said he was cited for a similar incident in January at the same store.In addition to retail theft, Parison was arraigned on charges of trespass and receiving stolen property, and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,000 bond. Police noted they charged the defendant with a felony in the case since this was at least his third arrest for retail theft.
Today — Police are seeking the whereabouts of Kaywood Jones, 15, of New Castle who is listed as a runaway after leaving Clearview Mall in Center Township with two other males about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the barracks at 724-284-8100.1 p.m. Wednesday — ASlippery Rock area woman is accused of soliciting an undercover officer for sex at Ivy Apartments in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Mercedez J. McIntyre, 20, is charged with prostitution.4:55 a.m. Wednesday — An unknown burglar broke into Excell Minerals on North Pike Road in Winfield Township. Police said nothing was reported taken.11:21 p.m. Tuesday — Acar driven by Jack Vereb, 67, of Harrisville crashed into one set of guardrails and then another before landing on an embankment along Route 108 between Harmony Road and Route 8 in SlipperyRock Township.Police said Vereb faces charges of driving too fast for conditions, accidents involving damage to property and a lane violation.10:20 p.m. Monday — Brent Davensizer, 22, of Slippery Road was injured when his 1999 Honda Civic struck a cow that had wandered onto Route 8 near Route 108 in Slippery Rock Township.Davensizer and Stephanie Dunworth, 21, of Slippery Rock, a passenger in the car, were treated at Grove City Medical Center for moderate injuries. Police said the Angus-Holstein cow was put down by its owner.Monday — Apurse containing a diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band, valued at a combined $4,500, was taken in a theft between 2 and 9:30 a.m. at the home of Marcie McKnight in Franklin Township.Monday — An undisclosed amount of catalytic converters were stolen from Weichey Auto Recycling on Route 422 in Clearfield Township. The property was stolen between 3 p.m. July 3 and 9 a.m. Monday.3:30 p.m. July 3 — Acar driven by Sara G. Boyers, 18, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Erin Kregar, 18, both of Prospect collided on Yellow Creek Road near Stone Church Road in Muddy Creek Township. Both drivers were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.July 1 — Police filed charges against a New Castle woman for allegedly using another person's identity following a June 29 crash on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Crystal A. Jordan, 28, is charged with forgery, identity theft, giving false identification to law enforcement authorities and driving with a suspended license.
10 p.m. Sunday — Sharon Ann Shankel, 51, of Templeton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 66 in Rayburn Township.2 a.m. Sunday — Edward Martin Buffington, 53, of Rayburn Township was arrested for suspected drunken driving and other charges after leading police on a 17-mile chase aboard his motorcycle.Police said the pursuit began on Route 28 North around the Buffalo bridge in South Buffalo Township. The chase ended at the suspect's home on Skyline Drive.Buffington is charged with driving under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving with a suspended license, driving without a legal license for motorcycles and disregarding traffic lanes.12:20 a.m. Sunday — Asport utility vehicle driven by Cody Bowser-Stewart, 25, of Worthington crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Montgomery Road in East Franklin Township.Police said Bowser-Stewart, who fled the crash after calling his home, faces charges for driving too fast for conditions and several other unspecified traffic violations.
6:21 a.m. Monday — AButler man is accused of looking into the windows of a house in Findley Township.Police said troopers found 33-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Anchors hiding in an abandoned van at the Mercer-Grove City Road home. Anchors was arraigned on charges of felony trespass as well as disorderly conduct and harassment, and placed in Mercer County Jail on $15,000 bail.July 3 — Avandal or vandals caused $2,600 in damage to a Cribbs Road cottage in Findley Township. Owner Walter Powell of Slippery Rock reported three broken windows and vinyl siding damaged in the vandalism that occurred July 2 or 3.5 a.m. June 18 — A car driven by Mary G. Meier, 47, of Grove City struck an embankment and landed in a field about 20 feet off Route 58 in Pine Township. Meier was treated at Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries.
