Tuesday — Tasha N. Saeler, 29, of Butler was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a New Year’s Day rear-end crash on Pittsburgh Road. Police spoke to both drivers at the scene shortly after 1:20 a.m. Jan. 1.
Saeler admitted she had been drinking earlier that night and also taken Suboxone that day, according to court documents. Police took her to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.081 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Toxicology reports also showed Saeler had benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, and buprenorphine, a synthetic opioid, in her system, according to court documents.
She is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
Tuesday — Police charged Stephen T. Wienand, 27, of Butler Township in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month at Center Avenue and South Monroe Street.
The victim told police she was at the intersection and waiting to turn left around 6 p.m. Jan. 13 when a sport utility vehicle struck the front driver’s side of her vehicle, and the unknown driver did not stop, according to court documents.
Police said that a short time later the suspect’s vehicle was found unoccupied and crashed into a retaining wall on the side of a structure on the 300 block of South Monroe Street. A check of the registration found Wienand owned the SUV.
Later that day, documents said, the defendant showed up at the Butler police station and admitted to driving the vehicle. He is charged with hit-and-run.
11:59 p.m. Sunday — Tiffany Jo Bowser, 32, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend during a domestic dispute in the area of South Monroe Street.
The victim told police that he was driving a vehicle when Bowser, a front seat passenger, punched him in the face several times as the couple was arguing, according to court documents. The victim suffered a black eye and other facial injuries.
Bowser was gone by the time police answered the call, but officers found her a short time later walking on Second Street near East Brady Street. Police noted she had blood on her knuckles that they said was from the alteration with the victim. She was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and released on her own recognizance.

Tuesday — Police charged Colin S. Kelly, 39, of Butler with two counts each of theft by deception and receiving stolen property stemming from a pair of suspected fraudulent returns Feb. 5, 2019, at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Jan. 10 — Larry D. Males, 40, of Butler Township allegedly submitted a concealed carry license application that included answers about his criminal record that were not truthful and were rejected by the Pennsylvania Instant Check System, which is run by the state police.
Males is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities.
[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]
Jan. 10 — An Allegheny County teenager is accused of struggling with officers during an incident last month at the Suite D student housing facility. Bryce P. Hudock, 19, of Bridge is charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Police said they were called around 6:20 a.m. Dec. 13 for a report that Hudock had torn a painting from a wall on the first floor and taken it to the third floor. Officers found the defendant in the third-floor lounge. They also found the painting on a table.
The painting, according to court documents, had been torn “in an attempt to remove it from the wood frame.” Police said when they tried to handcuff Hudock, he stiffened his arms and tried to roll over onto his stomach. He also allegedly struggled to keep his hands away from officers who tried to cuff him.
[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]
10:28 a.m. Tuesday — Francis L. Sipe Jr., 56, was arrested on charges he fired a gun during an incident at his home on Marys Drive in North Beaver Township.
Police said that a 20-year-old Bessemer woman reported she was leaving Sipe’s home in a car after an argument when she heard a loud “pop” sound and saw dirt fly up near her vehicle. She told police that she looked up and saw the suspect standing in his doorway holding a black 9 mm handgun. She left without further incident, police said.
Sipe was arrested a short time later without incident, police said. He was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was placed in the Lawrence County Jail on $50,00 bond following arraignment.
