State police investigating overnight bicycle crash in Franklin Township

A girl was transported by medical helicopter Wednesday night after crashing her bike in Franklin Township.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the accident, which occurred about 8:40 p.m. on Country Club Road. The girl's age and injuries were unknown as of Thursday morning.

A dispatcher with Butler County 911 reported that emergency crews from Prospect Borough/Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department and Unionville Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene.

Trooper Dan Kesten, public information officer for Troop D of the PSP, said it appears at this point in the investigation that the girl wrecked her bike. A car on scene when crews arrived had stopped to assist the girl.

“At this point, we believe she crashed her bicycle, however further investigation may reveal otherwise,” Kesten said Thursday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 724-284-8100.
