Two sentenced in Bentley Thomas Miller cases
The mother of a 4-year-old boy who police say died as a result of injuries suffered in a sexual assault last year, and the mother of the accused assailant, who was charged with hiding her son from police, were both sentenced Thursday on child endangerment charges in Butler County Court.
Mackenzie P. Peters, 22, mother of Bentley Thomas Miller, was sentenced to 36 months of probation, while Kristen L. Herold, 44, mother of homicide suspect Keith Jordan Lambing, 21, of Butler, was sentenced to 1½ to 5 years in state prison by President Judge Thomas Doerr.
Peters was charged in relation to injuries the boy suffered before the assault that resulted in his death. Police said Bentley suffered a previous injury — a severe burn to his hand — which also occurred while he was in Lambing's care, several days before his death.
Herold was charged with hiding Lambing while police searched for him and endangering Bentley when she did not immediate seek medical treatment for the boy.
Lambing was charged March 22, 2017, in connection with Bentley's death March 21, 2017, after police say Lambing sexually assaulted the boy in a room at the Super 8 motel on Pittsburgh Road in Butler Township, leaving him with injuries that resulted in his death.
