Butler man sentenced in retail theft, drug cases

Vincent M. Yandura

A Butler man who pleaded guilty in July to felony conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, as well as retail theft and DUI in two unrelated cases, was sentenced Wednesday to lengthy terms of probation and the county's Intermediate Punishment Program.

Vincent M. Yandura, 33, was sentenced to 24 months probation in the retail theft case; ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, perform 50 hours of community service, and serve six months on county IPP in the DUI case; and 48 months of IPP related to the drug delivery conspiracy. President Judge Thomas Doerr handed down the sentences.

Yandura also received credit for 150 days of time served, and was ordered to serve portions of his IPP sentences on house arrest with electronic monitoring.

Yandura was initially charged with multiple drug-related offenses by state police, after allegedly conspiring with a woman to deliver crack cocaine in the 200 block of North Washington Street. Police say they used a confidential informant to conduct a controlled drug buy from Yandura in that case.

In the retail theft case, Yandura was charged by Butler Township police with stealing $190.41 in merchandise from the Walmart at Butler Commons on Nov. 8.

State police also filed DUI charges against Yandura after a traffic stop on East Cunningham Street on Dec. 9. Police said he was pulled over for a burned-out brake light and admitted to taking heroin and cocaine before driving.
