Butler Downtown manager dies after being injured in crash

Rebecca “Becky” Smith, 30, of Butler, who was the manager of Butler Downtown, died Saturday after being injured in a vehicle crash Friday evening.

Two other people were hurt in the two-car accident on Route 8 near the Diehl automobile dealership in Penn Township that closed the road for hours.

About 6 p.m., an unidentified man driving a Subaru station wagon crossed over the northbound lanes, crashing into guardrails on the southbound side of Route 8, according to township police officer Jack Ripper.

The impact sent his car into southbound traffic where it hit a Buick. That was the car Smith was in.

The Subaru driver told emergency personnel that he wasn’t feeling well just before the accident.

He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, while firefighters had to cut the roof of the Buick off to get the male driver and Smith out of that car.

The Peter Rossi & Sons Memorial Chapel in Warren, Ohio, is handling her funeral arrangements.
