Butler PoliceThursday — Someone broke into a pop machine in front of Friedman’s supermarket on West Brady Street. Police said that one lock was popped open and the latch of a second lock was cut off. An unknown amount of money and pop were taken.

Butler Twp PoliceWednesday — Police put out the word that they are seeking anyone, primarily in the township‘s Highfield section, who may be missing property from their vehicles.According to a police report, officers about 3 a.m. Tuesday got a call of a suspicious person apparently trying to get into unlocked vehicles at homes on Colonial and Shady avenues.The officers followed shoe prints in the snow to a home on Evans City Road, where they found numerous items likely taken from the vehicles. The report did not indicate if police have a suspect in the investigation.Owners who may have had items stolen from their vehicles are asked to call police at 724-285-9600.5:49 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Connie Miller, 60, of Ellwood City and a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert Connors, 27, of Butler collided on Route 356 in front of the Butler Crossing shopping plaza. Police cited Miller for making an improper left turn.Monday — Michael Huffman II, 23, of Butler allegedly violated a court-issued protection from abuse order after he texted and e-mailed a woman at her North Duffy Road home. Police said Huffman is charged with indirect criminal contempt.State Police, Butler3:27 a.m. Thursday — An unknown hit-and-run driver struck three unoccupied vehicles in the B & B Motors parking lot on Route 8 in Center Township. The driver fled north on Route 8. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a silver, two-door Acura model. The car likely has moderate right front end damage.Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.9:27 p.m. Wednesday — Christina Ann Bush, 47, of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after police found her sitting in her car at the Slippery Rock Township maintenance building.2:36 a.m. Wednesday — Nicholas P. Hilliard, 34, of Slippery Rock was hurt when he lost control of his car and struck a utility pole along Route 173, just south of Applewood Lane in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Hilliard, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.Wednesday — Christopher M. Rusch, the manager and a salesman at Prestige 1 Auto in Donegal Township, is accused of fraudulent business practices.Police said Rusch, 29, of Chicora, was arrested on charges stemming from a vehicle dealer investigation into alleged crimes between June 1 and Aug. 15.Rusch, according to a police report, failed to submit five different registration and title transfers as a notary. Additionally, he allegedly failed to submit the titles along with $480 in required state taxes and $196.50 in fees to PennDOT.Police said the defendant also charged private notary service fees of $280 to five customers but failed to complete the required transactions.Rusch was arraigned on charges of deceptive or fraudulent business practices, theft by deception, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, as well as other summary charges, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $12,000 bail.Wednesday — A wallet containing numerous credit cards and personal information was stolen from a sport utility vehicle parked at a home on Dusty Lane in Clearfield Township. The unknown thief broke the rear window to get into the SUV sometime between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday.Wednesday — An unknown vandal used a blunt object to damage a mailbox at a home in the 900 block of New Castle Road in Slippery Rock Township. The vandalism happened between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.7:10 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Wayne Hrabovsky, 55, of Glenshaw, Allegheny County, crashed and rolled over an embankment on Brewer Road in Clinton Township. Police said Hrabovsky was cited for a lane violation.5:11 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Jesse L. Gaiser, 32, of Butler crashed and rolled onto its side on McGrady Hollow Road, just north of Old Route 422 east in Clearfield Township. Police said Gaiser was cited for a lane violation.2:40 a.m. Tuesday — Brendan J. Thomas, 20, of Saxonburg lost control of his car on snow and slush, and struck a tree along Saxonburg Road just east of Patterson Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Thomas was cited for driving too fast for conditions.7:14 p.m. Monday — Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on Parker Township. The crash happened when a van driven by Anthony Cuda, 77, of Pittsburgh and an SUV driven by Paul G. Newberry, 67, of Emlenton, Venango County, collided on Route 268.Cuda was trapped in his van and firefighters had to take off two doors and lift the dashboard to get him out, said Chief Rick Amsler of the Parker Volunteer Fire Department.Both drivers and Michael R. Newberry, 20, of Emlenton, a passenger in the SUV, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries. Medical helicopters flew at least two of the victims from the crash scene.Police cited Cuda for careless driving, a lane violation, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving with a suspended license.Saturday — An unknown rock thrower smashed out a window at a home on Suburban Lane home in Slippery Rock Township. The vandalism happened between midnight and 9 a.m.6:15 p.m. Nov. 19 — A car driven by Karen L. Haefner, 57, of Petrolia struck a deer on Route 38 just north of Hoon Road in Oakland Township.Nov. 11 — An unknown identity thief charged $400 worth of gift cards by accessing a 60-year-old Brady Township man’s bank card.

State Police, Clarion9 p.m. Nov. 21 — Clint Lineman, 26, of Rimersburg was arrested shortly after he allegedly broke into Shirey Lumber in Porter Township. Police suspect Lineman stole seven tub grinder screens and metal rims. He allegedly sold the items as scrap to Manor Metals in Templeton.Lineman, who is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, all felonies, is free on $5,000 bail.

State Police, KittanningThursday — Numerous tools worth about $2,000 were stolen overnight from a work truck at a home on Mile Long Hill Road in North Buffalo Township.12:57 a.m. Wednesday — Cody J.B. Fink, 23, of Kittanning was arrested after allegedly busting up a North Buffalo Township bar.The trouble started, according to a police report, when Fink failed to pay his bar tab at The Inn on Freeport Road. He became irate, police said, and tried to fight the bar manager and patrons.“(Fink) punched a hole in the wall, caused property damage and attempted to fight with police,” the report said.The defendant was arraigned on several charges including resisting arrest, terroristic threats, theft of services, vandalism, criminal mischief and two counts of disorderly conduct. He is being held in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail.

State Police, New CastleWednesday — An unknown thief stole a purse containing $170 from a home on Scottview Drive in Scott Township. The theft happened between Monday and Wednesday.Nov. 19 — Unspecified women’s jewelry was found in the driveway of a Portersville Road home in Perry Township and turned in to police. The owner can claim the property by calling police at 724-598-2211.12:33 a.m. Sunday — A homeowner in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, scared off a burglar but not before the suspect made off with $3,300 in currency.Police said the victim was sleeping when he heard someone in his house on Route 422. He yelled and the burglar left. Police believe the burglar had driven there and parked about 100 yards west of the home. The crook walked to the house and forced open the kitchen door.A police report did not indicate if investigators have a suspect in the case.
