James Elder

James Frederick Elder, 80, of Saxonburg, lost his courageous battle to COPD on Friday, April 30, 2021, at his home surrounded by his wife, adoring family and friends.

Born Dec. 14, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Frederick H. Elder and Helen E. Ward Elder.

James is survived by the love of his life, soulmate and spouse, Donna Elder, whom he married on Feb. 13, 1993; his son, James F. (Lori) Elder II and his grandson, James K. Elder; his daughter, Traci D. Elder; his stepdaughters, Traci L. Lawson and Becky L. (Greg) Kemper; his stepgrandchildren, Keon and Kye Barrett, and Logan, Jackson and Mia Kemper; his sister-in-law, Cheryl (Alan) Kirkwood; his brother-in-law, Joseph (Dee) Markus; and numerous nieces, nephews and very close friends.

James was a graduate of Mars High School and had attended Grove City College.

He was a past member of Mars United Methodist Church, and most recently attended New Life Christian Ministries.

He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.He owned and operated J&D Engineering most of his entire life. After the sale of his business, he was employed by Dutchman Racing and Henry Racing Engines.His many hobbies and interests included motocross racing, scuba diving, skiing and traveling. He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.He enjoyed his family, friends, grandchildren and pets.James will be deeply missed and remembered for his zest for life, fantastic sense of humor and easygoing spirit.ELDER — There will be no visitation for James Frederick Elder, who died Friday, April 30, 2021.Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at New Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, followed by a memorial luncheon.Arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township.Please visit www.pittsburghcremation.com.
