Helen Paskorz Snyder

Helen Paskorz Snyder, 78, of Chicora passed away on Friday following a lingering illness at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

She was born Monday, Aug. 7, 1939, in Harwick, Allegheny County, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Adela Liput Paskorz.

She graduated from West Deer High School in 1958, and lived in Russellton most of her life, until moving to Chicora in 1972

She worked for Scaife Company and Universal Lubricating in Oakmont. She then worked at J & L Steel Co. in Pittsburgh, until the plant closed in 1981,

She and her husband owned and operated Snyder's Farm in Chicora, raising and selling strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, apples, corn, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables. She belonged to several different organizations with the farm.

She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Chicora, and was also a member of the Christian Mothers, generously donating her time helping in numerous fundraising activities, particularly the strawberry festivals and yearly candy making.

She is survived by her husband, James W. Snyder, whom she married Jan. 2, 1968; two brothers, Michael (Connie) Paskorz Jr. and James (Kathy) Paskorz; three nieces, Kim Paskorz, Kathy Jo Paskorz and Dawn Groves.

SNYDER — Friends of Helen Paskorz Snyder, who died Friday, June 22, 2018, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, Chicora, and will be officiated by the Rev.
