Joyce Ann Hallahan

Joyce Ann Hallahan of Pittsburgh passed away Thursday in Butler after a brief illness.

Her parents were the late George Sr. and Helen Hallahan.

Joyce loved knowledge, whether it be the science of medicine, the languages of other cultures, the satisfaction of a great recipe or the soothing sounds of the symphony. She loved the challenge of the NY Times crossword puzzle or a spirited game of “Jeopardy.”

Joyce was loved by many from ages 1 to 92. She shared her love of learning with all, big or small.

She is survived by five siblings, Jean (John) Checket of Florida, David Hallahan of Florida, Maria Jolley of Mississippi, James (Mary Beth) Hallahan of Indiana and Elaine (Clarence) Gilliland of Butler.

To her numerous nieces and nephews, the “greats,” many cousins and a diverse group of friends, your generosity, loyalty and care will never be forgotten.

Along with her parents, her brother, George Hallahan Jr., preceded her in death.

Joyce's request for her legacy is that each person provide another with a simple act of kindness. Along with these acts, her years of service to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh's Heart Camp is nothing short of remarkable.
