Rose C. Mohn Smith

Rose C. Mohn Smith, 89, of Butler passed away Wednesday at her residence.

Born in Butler on Jan. 8, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Martin A. and Rosa E. Stemmer Kaib.

She was employed for 22 years at Nationwide Insurance Co. as a workers' compensation adjuster.

Rose was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She was a former past grand regent with the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Butler 443. She was also a past president of Midwestern PA Claims Association.

Rose was a member of the St. Paul Church Choir and the church's Handbell Choir and Folk Group, the Butler Musical Theater Guild, Butler Little Theatre and the former Butler Symphony Choir and the Musical Theater Guild Singers. In the 1950s and 1960s, Rose sang with a local vocal group, The We Three Trio. She also volunteered at Butler Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by three sons, Jay D. (Denise) Mohn of Karns City, Dean R. (Alice) Mohn of Sarver and Lee A. (Pamela) Mohn of Butler; and one daughter, Lu Anne Fettig of Palm Coast, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Ryan Donley, Bill King, Renee Weifenbaugh, Kristen Johnson, Angela Bowen, April Watson, Bradley Mohn, Philip King, Vanessa Wissinger, Michelle Fettig, Madeline Fettig and Raymond Fettig; 13 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is her beloved pet, Cordy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Smith, who passed away Sept. 24, 2006; one daughter, Mary Jo Mohn Covert, who passed away May 12, 2001; one grandson, Jay Daniel Mohn Jr., who passed away Dec. 15, 2001; and six brothers and five sisters.

SMITH — Friends of Rose C. Mohn Smith, who died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 and 9 p.m. Friday in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 11:35 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
