Center Twp. girl, 3, flown to hospital after falling into fire pit
A 3-year-old girl suffered burns Saturday when she fell into a fire pit at her family's home on Beacon Lane in Center Township, authorities said.
A medical helicopter flew the child to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh with reported second- and third-degree burns to her back, an arm and scalp, according to emergency crews. Her condition not available this morning.
Butler Ambulance Service and the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the medical call about 6:30 p.m. State police also were called.
The investigating trooper did not return a call Saturday.
Crews said the girl was conscious when they got there. An ambulance took to the nearby Unionville fire station at Route 8 and Mahood Road in Center Township, where the STAT MedEvac helicopter landed before flying her to the hospital.
No other information was available.
