Kenneth Laird “K.L.” Minehart
Kenneth Laird “K.L.” Minehart of Evans City, 81, passed away Friday at Brighton Wellness Center surrounded by family after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born Oct. 14, 1936, in Callery, he was the son of the late Daniel J. and Grace Dindinger Minehart.
K.L. married Geraldine “Geri” Cecelia Goetz on Nov. 24, 1956.
He worked on Marburger Farm. He also worked at American Bridge Co. as a steel worker and spent 25 years as a chemical mixer with Callery Chemical, retiring in 1999.
K.L. was “Pappy” to his six grandchildren and loved his wife and family foremost.
His favorite things included his home, cars, Elvis Presley, tending to outside chores, Geri's apple pie, vanilla ice cream, dancing, singing “Happy Birthday,” Lake Erie, long drives, hamburgers, working hard, water skiing, his easy chair, country western music, a good haircut, Seneca Valley football, the Steelers and the Pirates.
Always quick with a funny comment and infectious smile, he loved to tell stories and reminisce, shine his Cadillac, dance with his wife and daughters, and collect snapshots of family beside their new vehicles.
K.L. was kind and quietly served as caregiver to many. He always had sage advice and if he called you “Buddy” you held a special place in his heart.
He attended Victory Family Church.
He missed his son, Ray, daily, and he had a strong faith in God and country.
