Nicholas M. Heider

Nicholas M. Heider, 73, of Butler died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Butler, Sept. 20, 1937, a son of the late Nick and Marie Timko Heider.

Nick was a retired electronics technician who had worked from the I.B.E.W. Local area office. He also had been a member of the local in Anchorage, Alaska.

He had attended the University of Detroit.

A member of the St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler, he helped to install the TV equipment and lighting for broadcasting from the church. Nick also had volunteered at the Holy Trinity Byzantine Monastery for more than 20 years.

He had served four years as a member of the planning and zoning committee for the City of Butler, had been a member of the Butler Quarterback Club as well as a member of the former Jaycee's Committee of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Surviving are his wife, Theodora “Teddi” Polo Heider, who he married Oct. 22, 1966; three children, Brian Heider of Butler, Amy Brown and her husband, Charles, of Greenville, S.C., and Jill Widenhofer and her husband, David, of Butler; a granddaughter, Lily Megan Brown; a brother, Albert (Brenda) Heider of Butler; two sisters, Marianne (Ernie) Rockhill of the Villages, Fla., and Elena (Dan) Gomola of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas, who died Jan. 19, 1989.

<B>HEIDER</B> Friends of Nicholas M. Heider, who died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. His pastor, the Rev. Steven V. Neff, will officiate.
