John Zapp

Zapp

John Zapp, 81, of Renfrew died early Saturday morning at his home.

Born in Butler Township, Sept. 8, 1925, he was a son of Andrew and Sophie White Zapotechne.

He retired as a welder at Pullman Standard after 30 years when the plant closed in 1982. He also owned and operated Zapp's Service station on Route 68 West in Connoquenessing Township from 1977 through 1986 and then continued to operate his towing service business and work as an automobile mechanic.

Mr. Zapp was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a member of the Highfield Community Center.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Prementine Zapp, whom he married June 30, 1945; two sons, John R. Jr. and Richard G. Zapp Sr., both of Butler; four daughters, Janet Neely of Butler, Mrs. Byron (Sharon) McDonald of Manchester, Tenn., and Mrs. Edgar (Carol) Butler and Mary Zapp, both of Butler; a sister, Sally Onderik of Detroit; 14 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

<B>ZAPP </B>— Friends of John Zapp, who died Saturday, April 21, 2007, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
