Shaffer selected to administer county court
Pennsylvania's Supreme Court selected Judge William Shaffer to manage the Butler County Court of Common Pleas.
Shaffer will assume the duties from Judge Marilyn Horan, who was confirmed Sept. 6 as a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Horan has served as a county judge since 1996, primarily in the court's civil and family division, and was selected to take over the county court's administrative duties last year after President Judge Thomas Doerr was sued by a probation officer.
Horan's last day in Butler County will be Oct. 5. and her new position starts Oct. 9.
Shaffer, who primarily oversees criminal court cases, took the bench in 2000.
