Butler head football coach resigns after 1 season
BUTLER TWP — After one year as the Butler High School football coach, Jim Rankin has resigned.
He submitted his letter of resignation to the Butler School District administration.
Rankin cited family reasons for his decision.
“This came as a bit of a shock to us,” said board member Art Bernardi. “Jim felt bad about it. The situation with his grandson and that long commute ... He said it was more difficult to handle than he anticipated.”
Rankin lives in Brighton Heights, and his 9-year-old grandson lives with him.
The football team went 0-9 this past fall.
Butler’s next hire will be its fourth head coach in six years.
